International Week

International Weeks (IW) take place at 22 universities all around Europe and Asia. The University of St. Gallen is one of them. All IWs are based on the same core concept: during one week organized by a local students´ committee, a group of guest students – up to two from each other participating university – explore the host country. Every IW contains manifold opportunities for exchange of information and ideas as each delegation presents its country and university. There are tours to local companies which represent local industries and economic growth engines as well as cultural activities which show the respective country from its best side. Equally important, the social structure of this week creates friendships and social networks, which inspires future cooperation between different people from different countries. The customary International Dinner in which each delegation makes traditional dishes accompanied by its own stories, drinks and cultural merits, is one such example.

All International Weeks

The Swiss International Week

We will invite about 20 students from foreign partner universities (usually one or two from each university) for an unforgettable week in Switzerland. The week will be organized and accompanied by our IW team, which consists of four students of the University of St. Gallen (HSG). The aim of the International Week Switzerland is to show the participants our beloved Switzerland and to introduce them to the economic, political, ecological and cultural peculiarities. We will travel around to cities like Berne, Lucerne, Zurich, and St. Gallen and enjoy activities including company visits, workshops, city tours and other cultural events.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is an International Week (IW)?
The IW is our multicultural project where in total 22 universities from all over Europe and Asia take part. Every university organizes a one-week-tour around their own city or country and the students from all other universities can apply for that. As a result, you have a mixed group of around 20 students from all over Europe and Asia to participate in an IW.
For what can I apply as an HSG student?
You can apply for every foreign IW and we chose up to two participants from the HSG. The application for the different IWs will be open around four months before they take part.
How can I apply for an IW?
You have to fill out the application form online and you will then be invited to an interview with our Team of IW Switzerland. We will then choose two applicants from the HSG and send the applications to the foreign project team. They will then choose at least one of our applicants (but normally they choose both of them) depending on their budget. Around three months before the IW starts you will get your confirmation and can book your flights.
Can I also participate in the Swiss International Week?
Unfortunately, you cannot participate in IW Switzerland as a participant. You can just participate as a host and you will be matched with a buddy who will sleep at your place. Nevertheless, you can then participate in a few activities. You will get all information about being a host prior to the IW Switzerland in April 2020.
What does it cost to take part in an IW?
The participation is for free. You just have to cover your flights by yourself, the program, accommodation and food for the full trip are covered by the organizing team and their sponsors in the respective foreign university.
