Mayflower 2019 will be YOUR chance to experience Montreal, Québec and the rest of North America through a whole new perspective.
Mayflower is our youngest bilateral projects and will take place for the second time in 2019. The project aims at fostering intercultural understanding between Switzerland and the USA & Canada by getting to know the country through the eyes of a local. Each year, 40 students in total from the University of St. Gallen and an exchange university in North America will have the chance to spend 10 days in each country. Our goal is to give foreign students an insight into Swiss life and on the other hand giving Swiss students an opportunity to get to know the lives of Northern American students.
For the second edition of our Mayflower tour, the RI will organize a student exchange with the prestigious Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. The dates for the Swiss trip will be 7–15 May 2019, the trip in Canada will take place from 28 March – 6 April 2019.
The program includes lectures, workshops, city tours, and company visits in both countries. In the last year activities in Switzerland included visits to the UN and the parliament building, a trip to the Jungfraujoch, visits to cheese and chocolate factories, as well as workshops with selected companies.
Duration & Costs
The project involves a 10-day program in Switzerland as well as a 10-day part in the Montreal, Canada (plus an optional privately organized pre- or post-trip). The price of Mayfower 2019 will be approx. CHF 1’500 and includes everything in both countries (e.g. the flight, the accommodation, the food, all entry fees, the transport etc.).
